Changes for 2011
The year 2011 will bring some positive changes to this already excellent program. For over two years, we distributed food products to the needy in the open air – hot and cold, rain and shine. We now have a wonderful new home. Closer Walk UMC (behind BB&T on Village Rd.). Having an indoor setup leaves us with many more options that we will be able to explore as the time passes.
FOOD DRIVE - WE NEED YOUR HELP!

MANNA MINISTRIES, a collaboration of Leland area churches and civic groups is conducting a food collection drive. All food collected will be distributed to hungry Leland area families. The increasing costs of groceries, gas and utilities, as well as fallout from the housing crisis and economic slowdown, have caused a crisis in many families’ ability to provide adequate, nutritious food for their family. Every food donation helps in the fight against hunger – no matter how small or large.
Each month we plan on distributing food to 100 families. This costs about $12 per family, or $1200 per month.

EXAMPLES OF ITEMS NEEDED:
• Canned meats (tuna, stew, chili, Spam, salmon, etc.) • Canned or dry beans (pinto, navy, kidney, pork and beans, baked, etc.) • Peanut butter • Cereal, oatmeal and grits• Canned vegetables and fruit • Fruit juices in boxes • Boxed potatoes • Dried fruits • Canned soups, ramen noodles • Macaroni and cheese • Pasta, noodles, rice, pasta sauceMoney donations are also greatly appreciated (checks can be made out to Manna Minstries). Receipts for your money donations will be available. 100% of your donations go directly to the purchase of food.
